A note about safety and security: With the tragic events of September 11th, 2001, many schools canceled or dramatically altered their 8th grade class trips. The CFMS staff works diligently to create a class trip that offers the best value for the money while taking every precaution possible to keep our students safe. In 2001 we re-structured the class trip to include Baltimore, Maryland and only the fringes of Washington (Potomac River cruise, Arlington National Cemetery, Monuments) while staying overnight in the Baltimore area. In 2002, heightened terror alerts in the DC area prompted us to again change the trip and we re-focused the trip on the Baltimore and Philadelphia areas. In both cases we were able to create quality class trips and little, if any, additional cost to the student. It is always possible that we may need to restructure the trip, or even cancel it, in response to national or regional events. |
