Meeting Minutes - 05/08/07 |

The meeting was called to order at 10:10AM by President Jodi Vrabec.
Officer Reports: President: Jodi Vrabec - PTA will provide granola bars and bottled water for the 7th grade field trip to Camp Christopher. Jodi asked for a volunteer to purchase these items. Debbie Dugan volunteers for this task. - The Volunteer Luncheon will be held in the Library on May 11th. Secretary: Belinda Check The minutes were accepted as written. A volunteer/attendance sheet was circulated. Treasurer: Denise Kepple Denise presented her reports, including a comparison of the actual versus budgeted expenses and income. The current balance is $17,718.25. The reports were filed for audit. Principal's Report: Mrs. Parker (filling in for Mrs. Berkowitz who was unable to attend the meeting) - Mrs. Parker thanked the PTA for the Staff Appreciation events taking place this week. - Achievement testing went well. The middle school students took a total of 13 tests. - There will be two evening meetings this month for parents. The topic will be the proposed scheduling for next year. The dates will be announced soon. - The 7th graders will be attending Camp Christopher and the 8th graders will be going to Washington, DC this month. Students that are not attending the Washington, DC trip have some alternate field trips available to them. These include going to Jacobs Field, the zoo, the Hard Rock Cafe, and the Great Lakes Science Center. Discussion on the buzzer system for the front doors of the building. Mrs. Parker shared that after further research, the administration realized that a buzzer system was perhaps not the best course of action and that it would probably not be installed. - Another parent asked about an incident on one of the high school buses that recently appeared in the news. She wanted to know if the middle school students were addressed concerning this issue. Mrs. Parker responded that the CFMS staff is being open and honest with students concerning such incidents. 1st VP: Jeannie Alexander Jeannie announced that the position of co-chairperson for next year's magazine sale is still open. Interested parties should contact Jeannie. Council Delegates: Laurel Haumesser and Pat Kennedy Please see the attached report Minutes Previous May Meeting.htm Presentation of PTA Achievement Award: President Jodi Vrabec reported that his presentation will need to be postponed because the recipient, Kathy Forchione, will miss the remainder of the school year due to a fall. Committee Reports: Staff Appreciation Week: Jodi reported that Staff Appreciation Week is going well. She thanked all the volunteers who had contributed to the success of this event. Eighth Grade Dance: Jennifer Grable reported that the dance would be held on June 5th from 3:00-5:00PM. A DJ has been booked and plans are underway for the Hawaiian-themed event. New Business: Passing of the Gavel: Jodi thanked the officers, committee chairpersons, and administrators for their support during her two-year term as the Middle School PTA President. Jodi ceremoniously passed the gavel to next year's president, Cheryl Wells. 1st Vice President Kay Makishi thanked Jodi for all of her efforts and presented her with a past president's pin, flowers, and a gift card. The meeting was adjourned at 11:00AM by President Jodi Vrabec.
