Meeting Minutes - 01/08/08

The meeting was called to order at 11AM by President Cheryl Wells.

The minutes from December were read and approved.

Trasurer Leslie Stoyer reported that $20K was deposited from magazine sales.  A line was added to the income report after a motion by Sue Gigliotti and a second by Jill Pangas.  This allowed us to accept a donation of $215.  $4,000 was paid for library books from last year's project $$.

President Cheryl Wells
A software product that was given to Cheryl did not work.  Everything on the website would have to be redone.  Cheryl asked to buy Microsoft Expression for $299.  A motion was made by Colleen Campbell and seconded by Victoria Banit to purchase the software.

We had a request of $404.44 for fabric board, computer speakers and headphones and splitters - $8 each.  This would be used for the LCD projectors for classrooms and would allow sound in the classroom.  A motion was made by Belinda Check and seconded by Suzanne Smaltz.

Hoops for Heart - The middle school is not planning on doing this project this year.  Mr. Kerrigan will look into this.  The gym classes have spread apart.  Not all the children will have gym at this time.  The American Heart Association may have suggestions on how to do this outside of gym class.

The deadline is January 9th.  One project has been turned in so far, but more are expected tomorrow.  Two flyers were sent out.

Cultural Arts Day - Cheryl Wells
At the time of the meeting, we have no chair.  At this time, it is scheduled for May 23rd.  An assembly would allow 3 or 4 performers to be showcased in about one hour.  We will look at different options.  Suzanne Smaltz volunteered to chair this event.  An effort to make sure all the children see the same things will be made.

An informational meeting about taking classes for high school credit for 7th and 8th grade parents will be January 9th at 6:30PM at the high school.

Tonight at 5PM, the high school dedication will take place followed by the board meeting and boosters.

Principal's Report - Mr. Kerrigan
An updated calendar will be on the web page.

Before break a rash broke out amongst wrestlers.  All were treated.  It was not staph.  The mats and locker room were cleaned and a defogger was used to clean.  The rash was contained amongst certain weight classes.

Doors that can be locked were installed in the music room.  Band and choir both had a wonderful concert.

The scheduling committee has met once and will be meeting soon to start scheduling for next year.  There are 15 members.

Ice packs are available at all events.

April 21st is our testing week.

Financial assistance was requested for the Washington trip.  $1800 is budgeted.  Mr. Kerrigan thanked us for our help.

Mrs. Parker - Nothing to report at this meeting.

Mrs. Parkers addressed a question regarding computer classes.  She said that if a student did not get computers in 7th grade, they will get the class in 8th grade.

Cristine Braman addressed the group regarding the Chili cook-off to benefit the Lauren Audrey Braman Memorial Scholarship fund.  Flyers were handed out.

The meeting was adjourned at 12 noon.
