Meeting Minutes - 2/12/08

At 11AM the meeting was called to order by President Cheryl Wells.

The January minutes were read and approved.

Treasurers Report:  Leslie Stoyer
Magazine sales income is at $28,400.
Miscellaneous business expense is over $99 due to the cost of software.  The difference will be from the expected leftover of $8,381.
A motion was made by Beth Hofacker and seconded by Janet Tektas, then accepted by the group.

Presidents Report:  Cheryl Wells
The nominating committee consists of Lynn Louth, Sue Gigliotti, Janet Tektas, Debbie Forster, Jodi Vrabec, Nicki Cox and Beth Hofacker.  A motion was made by Leslie Stoyer and seconded by Debbie Dugan and then accepted by the group.  Someone from Herberick will also be asked to join this committee.

Instead of a monthly newsletter, the letter is now seasonal.  Students will bring home letters according to their grade as well.

A three-year district calendar was handed out.

A flyer from River City Gift Shoppe was handed out and explained.  Our school can receive 5% cash back for purchases made within a certain time frame.

A request to please pay for magazine sale orders by 3/1/08 was made.  If the order is not paid, students will not receive their award.  We still have 4K in profit unpaid.

Founders Day Brunch is February 20th.  The cost is $10 to attend.

Valentine's Day Parties will be this week.

An 8th grade parent's orientation meeting for the high school will be held on February 21st.

Committee Reports:
Reflections:  Victoria Banit
There were will submissions for reflections.  All were sent to Columbus.  They included four pieces of literature, four visual arts, one music composition, one photograph and one video.  An attempt to give more notice will be made in the future.

Cultural Arts Day:  Colleen Campbell reporting for Suzanne Smaltz
Cultural Arts Day is May 23rd.  The Akron University Steel Drum Band has been looked into.  A consensus from the PTA was to have several small stations rather than one large.

7th and 8th Grade Dance:  Jodi Vrabec
Everything is progressing.  Nothing to report at this time.

1-800-846-4790 is the number to call to add telephone numbers to the emergency response phone system.

Principal's Report:  Bill Kerrigan
The schedule for next year is being worked on.  At this time, four mock schedules will be given to teachers for feedback.  The goal is to have a schedule set by May.

Debbie Dugan was recognized for collecting $1,000 for the WKDD Radiothon for Children's Hospital. 

Parent/teacher conferences are on Thursday.  These are schedule if there is a need or a request.

The gifted program was noted as doing wonderful.

An announcement was made that all after school programs and afternoon kindergarten are cancelled due to the weather today.

Mr. Kerrigan and Mrs. Parker addressed questions from the group.
