He indicated his door is always open and parents are welcome to e-mail, call, or stop in. - The middle school had a lock down drill before he came. There were some recommendations made to improve things. The homeroom number will be posted on the outside windows so they can be seen in case emergency officials need to located a room in the event of an emergency situation. The music doors will get a new lock. It currently has a dead bolt and needs to be release doors. - Mr. Kerrigan will be riding the buses and attending our sporting events. - Scheduling for next year is being discussed. An e-mail went out to the teachers requesting volunteers for a scheduling committee. They will weigh the pros and cons of the block scheduling. A survey has gone out to the teachers asking what they like and don't like about block scheduling. He is looking at maybe changing teachers around to align what they are teaching with what their strengths are. No changes in scheduling will be made this year. - Mr. Kerrigan asked for discussion from the group. Lack of communication was discussed. The web site is not utilized, updated, or changed. There are wrong dates and times. The newsletters for grade levels have also had wrong dates. Info was taken from the district calendar which has dates that are wrong. When these dates are changes, they are not getting to everyone. Suggestions are to update the website, send back pack, or even to mail the info. - There was discussion about track and cross country events. There is no drink or snack provided for the children. This is something that needs to be coordinated by the parents of the athletes. There was also concern about the lack of ice packs or medical supplies (first aid supplies) when someone gets hurt. Also a contact number for someone at the event would be helpful. These concerns will explored further. Librarian: Kappy Chermak Ms. Chermak request a moment to speak. She thanked the PTA for $4000 in non-fiction books ordered last year. They have arrived and are almost ready to be shelved. The library still had on the shelves books that were copyrighted in 1946. All the non-fiction books with a copyright of 1970 and earlier were removed. The library has a request for more money, but the needs are more modest than last year. One need is for new speakers for the \computers. No formal request for money has been submitted at this time. Meeting was adjourned at 11:46AM.
