CFMS PTA MINUTES April 15, 2008 - April
Minutes to be approved at May meeting.
Meeting was called to order at 11 am by President Cheryl Wells.
The March minutes were read and approved.
The Ohio PTA Achievement Award was presented to Mr. Bob Cowie and Mrs.
LouAnne
Lorzing. A certificate and pin was given to both.
Officers Reports:
President Report: Cheryl Wells
A folder was passed that showed a picture of an energy drink which
contains
alcohol.
If also contained a flyer with information on an upcoming talk by Ray
Guarandi.
There was an Ohio PTA letter with information from reflections.
The volunteer luncheon is May 13th. The PTA will meet at 10am in
the Tomahawk
room. The luncheon is at 11am.
Cultural Arts Day for 5th and 6th graders is May 23. If you want
to help,
contact Suzanne Smaltz.
Treasurers Report-Leslie Stoyer
Our total income is $31K. We have total expense of 11K.
A motion was made by Leslie Stoyer to increase the budget by $30.56 to
cover the
cost of a new plaque for the PTA achievement award. This was
seconded by
Belinda Check and approved by the group.
Committee Reports
Cookies for Hospice - Lynne Louth reported for Laurel Haumesser.
Everyone was thanked for baking. It is very much appreciated.
The big
cookie day is coming up in early May. Information will come
home in the
next few weeks.
Magazine Sale Awards - Jeannie Alexander
Magazine sales have produced 29K in income.
There will be a rat race in the gym after the OATs. Forty-eight
students
qualify. Each grade competes separately. The winner will
receive $150.
A second reward is a limo lunch to Steak N Shake on Friday May 2nd.
Students
attending this sold ten or more magazines and turned them in on a
certain day.
Ten more volunteers are needed.
The third reward is a Cleveland Indians game on May 28th. 259
students will
ride chartered buses to the stadium. They will leave at 10am with
the game
starting at 12:05. It is also weather education day at the
stadium. They may
pack lunches or buy food at the stadium. Parents will be notified
via the
emergency notification system as to when the children are on their way
back.
Fifteen chaperones are still needed.
17% of people did not pay their orders. Three notices were given.
In the
future, payment needs collected when orders are placed.
Contact Jeannie Alexander if you would like to help with these reward
events.
Reflections - Victoria Banit
21 entries went to state.
Brandon Hofacker received an honorable mention for Literature
Ashley Bradford received an award of merit in video/film.
Nicholas Hofacker received an award of merit in visual arts.

Principals Report - Mr. Kerrigan
The OATs are next week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and then on
Tuesday
April 29th.
Mrs. Matasevac and Mrs. Reigler are retiring. Replacements are
being
interviewed.
The schedule for the coming school year is very close to being
finalized.
Science Olympiad team finished 3rd. They were only 41 points away from
nationals.
The 7th grade transitional meeting for parents still needs scheduled.
Questions were addressed from the crowd.
New Business
Voting for 2008-2009 Slate of Officers
Lynn Louth presented the nominating committee's report. There were no
further
nominations from the floor. The officers for 2008-2009 were
approved.

Secretary - Kristine Fonte
Treasurer - Leslie Stoyer
Delegates - Sue Gigliotti and Debbie Dugan
Alternate - Helen Grigson
Mr. Kerrigan requested mints be purchased for the students for the OAT
testing.
There is extra money left in the budget. Mr. Kerrigan will look at
ideas for
its use.
Staff Appreciation questions were addressed . Kim Martter is the
contact
person.
Victoria Banit passed out information on how to visit a website to
help Kayleen
Hannahway win a college scholarship.
Wells.
