PTA Committee Descriptions & Chair Responsibilities

8TH GRADE END OF YEAR DANCE - The PTA hosts an after-school dance for the graduating 8th grade class.  The dance is held immediately after school near the end of the school year.  The PTA organizes food, decorations, and entertainment. 

7th/8th GRADE FALL & SPRING DANCES - The CFMS Student Council holds two dances during the school year for 7th and 8th grade students.  PTA provides the refreshments; planning and purchasing the food and drinks, and serving at the event. 

ART SHOW - The PTA helps in the Art Show held at Copley High School to display student art work. 

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE - Coordinate PTA membership for CFMS.

REFLECTIONS ART COMMITTEE - National PTA program where students submit a work of art based on a yearly theme for submission for competitive evaluation.  Committee members organize, communicate, collect art, and present to national committee. 

SCHOOL BOARD REPRESENTATIVE  - This post involves attending school board meetings at Copley High School one evening a month and reporting to the CFMS PTA membership. 

SCHOLARSHIP AND LEGISLATION - This post involves working with information out of state and local PTA, reporting to membership and helping PTA continue to have a voice in education issues. 

HOSPITALITY - This committee arranges for refreshments for the monthly PTA meeting.

LIBRARY - The PTA provides help in shelving books and other tasks needed by the librarians. 

MAGAZINE SALE FUNDRAISER - This is the only fundraiser planned for CFMS and funds PTA programs throughout the year – all the above included.  Volunteers are needed to tally order forms and help with student prize days. 

COOKIES FOR HOSPICE - Each week the PTA delivers a baked treat to the Hospice on Ridgewood Road for the families of their patients.  Bakers needed. 

STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK - Organize activities for the staff during this week normally held in the spring. 

CULTURAL & FINE ARTS DAY - CFMS PTA sponsored event for 5th and 6th graders where artists, performers, and speakers visit to present their craft. 

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR - Obtain and organize volunteers for PTA events in conjunction with committee chairperson. 

TURKEY TROT - A fun running event for all students prior to the Thanksgiving break to celebrate the end of the canned-food drive.  Many volunteers are needed to help during the event. 

CANNED FOOD DRIVE  - This service project is done in the fall in conjunction with the Copley Kiwanis to help local families by providing non-perishable food items.  Volunteers are needed to sort, package, and load food items. 

CONFERENCE DINNERS - The PTA provides dinner for teachers and staff prior to the parent/teacher conference evenings. 

ROOM PARENT COORDINATOR - Posts 5th and 6th grade room parent sign up sheets at Open Houses.  Holds informational meeting in September for all room parents.

5TH GRADE PARENTS TOGETHER - Meetings for 5th grade parents to better understand the CFMS experience of their children. 

WARM & WOOLY BREAKFAST - Organizing the Warm & Wooly Breakfast in the winter – held prior to school for students and adults.   

WEBMASTER - Maintain CFMS PTA website with current information from executive board and committee chairs.
